I started as a lawyer in 1977 and have been involved in commercial leasing ever since. I first got involved in retail leasing in 1981 and it quickly became a passion for me.
I act for a number of large organisations on their acquisition, development and operation of large retail shopping centres. I enjoy seeing the end product and being part of a team that ensures a shopping complex or town centre is successful.
My approach is very relaxed and friendly. I don’t stand on ceremony. I get on with all my clients and I count a number of them among my friends. My key strengths are my ability to negotiate effectively with major tenants and my skill in bringing a pragmatic and commercial focus to complex leasing transactions and multifaceted design build arrangements.
I have built up a substantial knowledge of the workings of a number of major New Zealand and Australian entities over the years. Because I have been part of their team for a long time, they don’t lose the institutional knowledge when their people move on.
My major interests are my family (both adult children still living at home...) and old British cars. I race one of the cars (the oldest) and I’m quite handy with a spanner.
